Summer brings warmer weather, longer days and the age-old question: “how can I keep my little ones active and entertained?” This blog will propose heaps of fun summer holiday activities for kids, ranging from indoor arts and crafts to outdoor adventures and even a memorable getaway to PortAventura World.

What can I do with my kids this summer?

The key lies in striking the perfect balance between periods of indoor relaxation and outdoor plans, while also incorporating a big day out to break up the routine. This will ensure that they’ll have fun, learn new things and go back to school with a spring in their step after a summer spent making happy memories.

PortAventura World and Caribe Aquatic Park: the place to be this summer!

PortAventura World combines the thrill of a theme park with the refreshment of a water park. During the day, you can alternate between the family-friendly attractions of SésamoAventura and the adrenaline of the park’s ‘big beasts’: Shambhala, Dragon Khan and Furius Baco. You’ll also be able to cool off at Caribe Aquatic Park, which features designated splash zones and impressive water slides such as King Khajuna. PortAventura World’s wide range of shows are another superb way to seek shelter from the sun. To complement your day out at the park, we recommend taking a look at our suggestions of things to do in Salou with children.

FAQs

What activities can small children enjoy at PortAventura this summer?

PortAventura World boasts a huge range of children’s attractions. While you can find them all over the park, most of these attractions are concentrated in SésamoAventura, the epicentre of enjoyment for our youngest PortAventurers! Make sure they check out our most popular kid-friendly attractions including Tami Tami, Coco Piloto and La Granja de Elmo.

Does PortAventura World have any shaded or air-conditioned areas?

You bet! Not only are there air-conditioned indoor restaurants and shaded areas in each of our worlds, but we also have several indoor theatres—such as the Gran Teatro Imperial—where you can enjoy incredible shows away from the sun. What’s more, the waiting areas of several rides are both covered and fitted with fans, helping you to beat the heat in the minutes before embarking on the ride.

What are Caribe Aquatic Park’s best water rides for children?

Some of Caribe Aquatic Park’s most popular water rides are Sésamo Beach, a shallow splash zone; El Río Loco, where you and your loved ones can literally go with the flow; and the multi-track Rapid Race, where you can race them to the bottom on mats.

Does Caribe Aquatic Park offer float, locker and sun bed rental services?

Caribe Aquatic Park’s rides and attractions already provide floats where these are required. However, please note that we do not offer a float rental service and neither is it possible to bring your own from home. For PortAventurers who can’t swim, a life jacket can be collected. This is totally free of charge, but you’ll need to pay a deposit upon collection which you’ll get back upon returning the life jacket at the end of the day. Our sun beds, which are distributed throughout Caribe Aquatic Park, are also free to use. And yes, we also offer a locker rental service so that you can safely store those things that you won’t need during your day at the park!

Which family-friendly shows will be performed at PortAventura this summer?

As part of our 30th birthday celebrations, you’ll be able to enjoy a huge range of special shows this summer. Some of our most loved performances include Un viaje fascinante, which takes you on a journey around PortAventura’s six world’; Birthday Parade, where your little ones will come face-to-face with some of their favourite characters; and FiestAventura, our much-loved nightly closing show.

Can I bring food and drink into PortAventura World or Caribe Aquatic Park?

No, food and drink cannot be brought into the park as per PortAventura World’s Operational Rules. You can consult these rules here. For more information, please read our post on what you need to bring to a theme park.

Which hotels close to PortAventura World are ideal for families with young children?

All the hotels within the resort are perfectly placed for family stays, as they’re a mere stone’s throw from the park and may also entitle you to early access. If you’re not sure which one to go for, read this blog about PortAventura World’s range of hotels. PortAventura also collaborates with several affiliate hotels, such as the Ponient Hotels, which offers a transfer service to the park.
