Plaza Mayor de Portaventura Park decorada con calabazas

Halloween at PortAventura World has no age limit. Little ones can discover a Halloween full of characters, music and pumpkins, or start looking for their first scares. Older children can take things up a notch with rides and more intense experiences.

The key to enjoying it all together is to plan your visit well. When travelling as a family, especially with children of different ages, not everyone wants to do the same things or needs the same things.

So, if you’re planning a family getaway, here’s our guide to making the most of PortAventura at Halloween according to your children’s ages and getting the most out of your budget.

How to Plan the Perfect Halloween at PortAventura for the Whole Family

Before thinking about haunted attractions, rides or costumes, there’s one important question: what does each member of the family want to do?

When you have children of different ages, it’s best to combine activities you can all enjoy together with other plans tailored to each child. While the little ones explore SésamoAventura, the older ones can enjoy a more thrilling ride. And when it’s time for the shows, it’s time to get together again.

Tailored Fun: What to Do at Halloween Depending on Your Children’s Ages

Little Monsters (0–5 Years): The Autumn Magic of SésamoAventura

For little ones, Halloween can be about much more than scares. At SésamoAventura, they’ll find a seasonal experience to enjoy with the family.

One of the must-see stops is “1, 2, 3… It’s Halloween!”, a show where Count Draco and the Sesame Street characters come together in a story filled with music, humour and friendship.

You can also spend part of the day enjoying the children’s and family rides at PortAventura Park. There are options for different heights and ages, so even the youngest visitors can find their own adventure. And most importantly… leave time for photos and fill the season with memories.

Brave Explorers (6–11 Years): First Scares and the “Trick or Treat” Haunted Attraction

Between the ages of 6 and 11, a new stage begins: not everything is scary anymore… or so they say.

For them, Trick or Treat is one of the family Halloween experiences you won’t want to miss. It’s the first children’s haunted attraction at PortAventura World, where children explore an enchanted forest accompanied by ghosts, witches and fairies in search of a giant pumpkin.

They can also combine it with the park’s family rides and Halloween shows. Just remember that children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult when visiting Trick or Treat.

The idea is simple: start with a Halloween that’s a little bit scary, but leaves everyone wanting to come back for more.

Fearless Teenagers (12+ Years): Thrilling Rides and Moderate Scares

If your little ones have become teenagers, it’s time to turn things up a notch. Rides, adrenaline and a Halloween experience or two for those who want to take things further.

From the age of 12, they can enter several haunted attractions accompanied by an adult, such as La Muerte Viva or Angkor, the Legend of the Cannibal King. The minimum age to enter unaccompanied is 14.

And, of course, there’s always the option of combining horror with the park’s major rides. From Shambhala and Dragon Khan to Furius Baco and Hurakan Condor, there are plenty of options for those who prefer their adrenaline rushes on a roller coaster.

The trick is to let them choose some of the experiences they’re most excited about and spend the rest of the day enjoying activities as a family.

Family Halloween Shows You Won’t Want to Miss

Halloween isn’t all about screaming. In fact, some of the best moments to enjoy together come when it’s time to sit down and let the show begin.

During the season, you’ll find shows such as Halloween Parade and Day of the Dead, as well as entertainment and roaming characters throughout the park. For the little ones, “1, 2, 3… It’s Halloween!” brings the season to SésamoAventura.

A good family strategy is to check the show times before starting the day and plan your rides around the shows you want to see.

Expert Tips for Making the Most of Your Family Budget

Here comes the part everyone wants to read. Because enjoying Halloween as a family is great, but doing so without your wallet running for the hills is even better.

Tickets vs. Hotel + Tickets Packages: Which Offers Better Value?

If you’re spending more than one day at PortAventura World, it’s worth comparing the price of tickets purchased separately with a Hotel + Tickets package.

As well as accommodation, stays at PortAventura World hotels include access to the parks depending on the number of nights booked. For example, with a one-night stay, you can visit PortAventura Park for two days and Ferrari Land for one day; with two nights, you get three days at PortAventura Park, and with three nights, four days.

If you’re planning a getaway lasting several days, this option is ideal for making the most of your visit without having to fit everything into a single day.

How to Eat as a Family Without Breaking the Bank

Between rides and shows, you’ll also need to make time for meals…

To keep your budget under control, it’s a good idea to plan where to eat. PortAventura Park has a range of dining options and, during Halloween, also offers special seasonal food experiences.

You can check the available options before you go and decide where you’d like to have your main meals. Above all, there’s no need to turn every stop into a full meal: alternating a sit-down meal with a snack can help you adapt your spending to your family’s pace.

Halloween Passport and Express Passes: When Are They Worth the Investment?

This is definitely something to calculate before buying.

The Halloween Passport gives you access to several haunted attractions for one combined price. There are currently Passport 2, 4 and 5 options, each offering different combinations of haunted attractions. It can be a good choice if you want to experience several haunted attractions during your visit. With different options available, you can choose the one that best suits your plans and enjoy several horror experiences without having to purchase them separately.

The Express Pass works in a similar way. It provides priority access to certain rides, and several options are available. If you’re visiting for just a few days and want to make the most of your time by riding lots of attractions more than once, it may be worthwhile. However, if you’re planning a more relaxed family visit, you may not need it.

Waiting Times and the PortAventura World App

One of the best ways to save during a family visit is simply to plan well.

The PortAventura World app lets you check updated schedules and waiting times for rides and shows. It also helps you plan your visit and find what you’re looking for using filters.

Is there a long queue for a ride? You could take the opportunity to see a show. Does the show you want to watch start in half an hour? It might be the perfect time to try a nearby ride.

When you’re visiting with children of different ages, every minute counts. And if you manage to avoid a one-hour queue by saying, “Let’s do something else in the meantime,” you’ve already won half the Halloween battle.

The key is to choose experiences that suit each age group, combine family activities with moments for the older children and, above all, plan before you buy so that every extra fits your budget.
