We know that you’re already familiar with the large areas that make up PortAventura World, but have you ever stopped to take in the different architectural styles that you can find in each one?

Today we want to delve into those features that distinguish Mediterrània, China, México, Far West, Polynesia, and SésamoAventura. And on your next visit, you can show off your knowledge in front of your friends and family!

Look closely, each detail is unique.

MEDITERRÀNIA

This area is inspired by a fishing village, which is why it’s named after the sea where we have experienced so many unforgettable moments.

One of the most characteristic elements of this zone is its large lake. The entire town has a Mediterranean vibe, themed and decorated with seaside objects that transport you to a world where good weather is the real protagonist.

The town is made up of low-rise, light-coloured homes with façades that reflect the sunlight so that the inside remains nice and cool. They all have large windows and balconies where their inhabitants can relax, mesmerised by the impressive views.

Would you like to live in any of them?

POLYNESIA

The Polynesia area is inspired by the famous Pacific Ocean archipelago.

Its structures are representative of those that can be seen in many tropical settings. Low buildings, built from natural materials such as wood and lifted off the ground on raised platforms.

These platforms protect them from possible flooding. In addition, their thatched roofs add a very tropical touch!

SÉSAMOAVENTURA

This is one of the most amazing spaces in the park. Inspired by the Sesame Street® universe, its houses awaken children’s imaginations, thanks to their very bright colours and fluid shapes.

The more unusual, the better!

Abby Star Studio is a good example of this type of building. It’s unlike anything you can see in the real world and will transport you to a magical place where anything is possible.

CHINA

Asian cultures are very different from our own. That’s why this is one of the park’s most surprising areas!

Here you will find shrines that pay homage to some of the most important Chinese temples in the Asian world. These are shelters built on stone platforms with wooden pillars that support the structure and hold up very distinctive and traditional roofs.

Open your eyes wide when you enter so you don’t miss any of the thousands of incredible decorative details that often go unnoticed, like the dragons and paper lanterns!

MÉXICO

The México area will take you straight to the heart of the Yucatan peninsula. Between mariachis and jungle, you’ll come across colonial remains and iconic features such as the Kukulkan pyramid.

These are stone constructions that rise up into the sky to connect the inhabitants with the deities of their culture. A great example of this is the Hurakan Condor tower, which stands at a mighty height of almost 100 metres.

Vegetation is also a very important part of this area, and at times you can even get lost in the jungle areas. So don’t forget your map and compass!

FAR WEST

The Far West also has its place in PortAventura World. In this area, set in an authentic Far West town, you’ll see the same buildings you would have seen a thousand times before in the old Western movies. The Sheriff’s Office, the bank, and the saloon are just a few iconic examples!

Low-rise spaces built from wood that take us straight back to the wildest adventures. There are even water troughs for horses, carts, and watchtowers.

Now that you know a little more about each area of PortAventura Park, tell us… which is your favourite?

Come and visit them all and get excited by all the attractions and shows you can find in each of them!
