Everyone should be able to enjoy the magic, excitement and fun without barriers. Planning an unforgettable getaway is much easier when your destination is prepared to welcome every guest in an inclusive and safe environment. If you’re looking for an accessible theme park, you’ve come to the right place.
In this guide, you’ll find everything you need to know about accessibility at PortAventura and how to plan the perfect visit, from special admission rates and adapted access to wheelchair hire and companion policies.
PortAventura: a theme park committed to accessibility
We firmly believe that fun should be for everyone. That’s why we continuously work to adapt our facilities and services, ensuring that every guest enjoys an exciting experience with the highest levels of safety. Our commitment to accessibility goes beyond removing physical barriers—we want every visitor, regardless of their needs, to feel welcome.
Tickets and discounts for guests with disabilities
Making entertainment accessible to everyone is one of our priorities. For this reason, the resort offers discounted admission for guests with disabilities to ensure the experience is as comfortable and accessible as possible.
Who is eligible for discounted tickets?
Discounted admission for guests with disabilities is available to visitors who can officially certify a disability rating of 33% or higher.
Documents required when purchasing tickets
To benefit from these discounts, you must present a valid official disability certificate (or official disability card), together with your ID card or passport. This verification is generally carried out at the park ticket offices or at the reception of our hotels, where the documentation is checked in person.
When does a companion receive free admission?
According to the park’s policy, if the guest has an officially recognised disability rating of 75% or higher, or holds an official certificate specifically stating reduced mobility (positive mobility assessment), one accompanying person is entitled to free admission, as their assistance is considered essential.
Accessibility on the rides
Thrilling attractions are one of the highlights of your visit, and the resort offers many accessible rides while always prioritising guest safety.
Rides suitable for guests with reduced mobility
At PortAventura Park, you’ll find a wide range of accessible attractions. In addition, the vast majority of our theatres and shows provide dedicated wheelchair spaces, ensuring excellent visibility and easy access.
Rides with safety restrictions
To guarantee the safety of all guests, international ride manufacturers establish strict evacuation requirements. Some attractions require a certain level of upper- or lower-body mobility so guests can maintain the correct riding position or be safely evacuated in the event of a technical stop. Our Guest Services team will assess each situation individually and advise you on which attractions you can enjoy safely.
How to identify the accessibility of each ride
At the entrance to every attraction, as well as on the official park map and in the PortAventura World App, you’ll find clear accessibility symbols indicating whether a transfer from a wheelchair is required, whether a companion is necessary, or whether the attraction can be experienced while remaining in your wheelchair.
Accessible services throughout the park
To ensure you enjoy a comfortable visit, we offer a wide range of accessible services.
Wheelchair and mobility scooter hire
If you need assistance getting around the resort, we offer a wheelchair hire service, including both manual wheelchairs and powered mobility scooters. As availability is limited, we strongly recommend requesting one upon arrival at the Guest Services Office or checking availability in advance.
Accessible toilets and rest areas
Accessible, spacious toilets are available throughout all themed areas of the park, along with shaded rest areas where you can comfortably take a break during your visit.
Reserved parking and priority access
The main car park includes designated parking spaces for Guests with Reduced Mobility (PRM) located as close as possible to the ticket offices. In addition, by visiting the Guest Services Office with your disability certificate, you can request a special wristband or pass that allows access to attractions through designated accessible entrances or exits, helping you avoid the standard queues.
Accessibility in the resort’s hotels and restaurants
The experience doesn’t end when you leave the park. Our hotels and restaurants are also designed with accessibility in mind.
Accessible hotel rooms
The resort’s hotels offer adapted rooms for guests with reduced mobility, located either on the ground floor or accessible via spacious lifts. These rooms include accessible bathrooms with grab rails, walk-in showers and sufficient space to allow comfortable wheelchair manoeuvring.
Restaurants with adapted menus
Our restaurants are fully accessible and free from architectural barriers. In addition, our teams are specially trained to provide detailed information about allergens, food intolerances (including coeliac disease) and specific dietary requirements, ensuring the highest standards of food safety.
Cognitive accessibility: PortAventura’s commitment
Being a leading theme park for guests with disabilities also means supporting visitors with invisible disabilities. The park has implemented cognitive accessibility initiatives for guests with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodivergent needs. At the Guest Services Office, you can request special access passes to reduce waiting times and receive information about the available support services designed to make your visit as comfortable as possible.
Tips for planning your visit with reduced mobility
The key to enjoying the resort with reduced mobility is planning ahead. We recommend checking our Visitor Information before your trip, wearing comfortable clothing, bringing your original documentation with you, and visiting the Guest Services Office (located just inside the park entrance) as early as possible to arrange any accessibility passes and wheelchair hire quickly and efficiently.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are there discounts for companions of guests with disabilities?
As explained above, if the holder of the disability certificate has a disability rating of 75% or higher, or has officially certified reduced mobility, one companion is entitled to free admission. In all other cases (disability ratings between 33% and 74% without certified reduced mobility), the companion must purchase a standard admission ticket.
Can I bring an assistance dog to PortAventura?
Yes. Assistance dogs and guide dogs, provided they are officially accredited and wear their official identification or harness, are welcome throughout the resort.
