Catalonia is a Mediterranean destination that combines the bright light of its beaches and the beauty of gorgeous mountain scenery that have inspired universal artists of the ilk of Picasso, Miró, Dalí, Tàpies or Gaudí.
Culture is the hallmark of a country with a language of its own and hospitable people. Catalonia has a rich tangible and intangible cultural heritage, with eleven UNESCO Heritage Sites, as well as a broad range of cultural possibilities, to say nothing of its different architectural styles, which straddle the Romanesque, Gothic, Modernist or Contemporary. It is also home to four hundred museums, plus all-year-round cultural events and music performances, plays, movies and gastronomy or wine activities.
In 2018, the Catalan Tourist Board is holding its Cultural Tourism Year as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
